Rodney E. Pearson, 83, of Urbana, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, October 27, 2017.
He was born on April 24, 1934, in Viroqua, Wisconsin, the son of the late Everett and Irene (Schoonover) Pearson.
Rodney is survived by his beloved children, Ricky Pearson, Gregory Pearson, Jacquewin (John) Arnold and Katrina Pearson (Jon Davis); grandchildren, Sheldon Pearson, Travis Pearson, Whitney Arnold and Thorpe Connolly; great-grandchildren, Ashton Swan, Cameron Pearson, Avery Timmerman and Sawyer Pearson; and numeorus other nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jane L. (Hartley) Pearson in 2009; siblings, Glenda, Joan, Earl, Wanda and Kay; and Uncle Fredrick Schoonover.
Rodney owned Commercial Glass and Glazing and also Pearson Equine Racing Team. He loved going to the race track and watching the horses race, going to the casino and especially loved playing cards with family and friends. He loved his German Shepherd dogs too.
He was a man who truly lived his life to the fullest and never met a stranger. Rodney hosted a countless number of cookouts which he would invite everyone he knew and some he didn’t. He always wanted everyone to have a good time and he made sure at his cookout, you would eat only the best filet mignon.
He was a loving, genuine and spicy man with a caring soul and even bigger heart. He would do anything for anyone and was sincerely a perfect man in many ways. Rodney loved his family and would make a point to travel to Minnesota to visit with them. His grandchildren and great grandchildren meant the world to him and he will be missed deeply by all the lives he touched.
