Annetta J. Knull

Annetta J. Knull, 96, of Urbana, died at 8:40 P.M. Saturday, December 6, 2014 in her residence. She was born March 21, 1918 in Minier, IL, the daughter of Henry and Erma (Hoose) Gainer. She was a 1936 graduate of Urbana High School and 1941 graduate of Bowling Green State University where she received a B.S. in Education. Annetta taught at Urbana City Schools and retired from Triad High School where she taught home economics. She was a member of Urbana United Methodist Church where she was very active. Annetta was also a member of the Urbana-Champaign County Senior Citizens Center and she was named the Outstanding Senior Citizen of the Year. She was a member of the Champaign County Retired Teachers Association and Ohio Retired Teachers Association and was a volunteer tutor at The Caring Kitchen and volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Survivors include her children, Charles H. Knull (Kate Roth) of Cooperstown, NY, Dr. George R. (Maite) Knull of Long Beach, CA, and Marsha L. (Raymond) Collett of Put-In-Bay; grandchildren, Ali (Steve) Smith of Hilliard, James (Edina) Nicoloff of Clovis, NM, Michael Nicoloff of Cleveland, and Nicolas Knull of Cooperstown, NY; 4 great-grandsons, Justin Smith, Brady Smith, Christopher Nicoloff and Oliver Nicoloff; a brother, Joseph (Bridget) Knull of Potomac, MD. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank, brother Martin Gainer and sister Lois Fyfe. A service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2014 in the Urbana United Methodist Church, 238 N. Main St., Urbana with Pastor Jim Lillibridge officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made in Annettas memory to the Urbana United Methodist Church, PAWS Animal Shelter, 1535 W. U.S. Route 36, Urbana, OH 43078 or The Caring Kitchen, 300 Miami Street, Urbana, OH 43078. The family is being served by the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Urbana.
