Arnold Pena

December 19, 1956 — October 16, 2022

Arnold Pena, age 65, passed away unexpectedly in Forest City, Iowa on October 16, 2022. He was born on December 19, 1956, in Urbana, the son of the late Luz and Isabel Pena. Arnold spent most of his life in Urbana and deeply loved the community. He moved out to Iowa about 10 years ago to be closer to one of his sisters.

Growing up with many siblings, it was instilled in Arnold that family is everything. He knew you always stick together no matter what the circumstance or no matter how much you may disagree. In the Pena house, things could get crazy quickly, but at the end of the day, the love they had for each other is what always shined through.

After attending Urbana High School, Arnold enlisted in the United States Army National Guard. He always wanted to serve and help others and being a veteran, was the ultimate way he could show his love. His giving ways were noticed by all he encountered and there was no such thing as a stranger. If you were down, he knew just the right things to say to cheer you up and if you just needed a good laugh, he was an encyclopedia of jokes.

Although Arnold moved out of Ohio, he still wore his colors proud and supported the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns, even through their rough times. His personality made people gravitate towards him and the many friends he acquired through the years was a reflection of how he treated others. One of his favorite pass times was hanging out fishing and sharing stories with the people whom he cherished. The time spent together with Arnold will forever be treasured by the many lives he touched.

He leaves behind his children, Carrie, Miguel and Amanda Pena; his siblings, Mary (Kevin) Thorshein, Elia (Phil) Laird, Elba (Gary) Preteroti, Robert (Sharon) Pena, John (Gayle) Pena, Joseph Pena and Tony (Sheila) Pena; 9 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother and father; brother, Leo Pena; nephew, Cory Patrick; and great-niece, Alivia Laird.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 from 4-6p.m. at Walter & Lewis Funeral Home with service beginning at 6p.m. Inurnment with military honors will be held on Thursday, February 16 at 10a.m. at Oak Dale Cemetery.
