Barbara Jean Godwin

Barbara J Godwin, 88, of Urbana, Oh, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Sunrise of Dublin surrounded by her family.

Barbara was born on February 19, 1934 in Urbana, Ohio to William and Marcella (McLaughlin) Mott. She married Floyd Godwin in 1969.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Floyd Godwin and brother in law, Craig McConnaughey.

She is survived by sons: Jack (Carla), Dennis, Chris (Debi), Jim (Demaris), Ron (Jennifer), Rob (Cathy) Healy; daughters: Lisa (Dave) Wells, Sandra Jones, Heather (Franco) Brady; daughter in law Tammy Healy, 21 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; siblings Joyce McConnaughey, Bill (Fran) Mott, Louis (Terri) Mott , Bob (Marge) Mott; sister-in-law Nora Lee Deere; many nieces and nephews.

Barbara graduated from St Mary School in 1951. She was a lifetime member of St Mary Catholic Church where she was a member of the ladies sodality and served as a lector and Eucharist minister. Barbara was also a member of St Anne Catholic Church in Ruskin, Fl where she spent her winters.

Barbara babysat many children from the neighborhood while her children were growing up. She then spent many years at The Hall Company in which she retired from. Barb was also very active with the Urbana Senior Citizen Center, serving on the board for several years and was proud of her Wii bowling skills.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Walter & Lewis Funeral Home from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Wednesday, October 12 beginning at 11:00 a.m. Father Jacob Lindle officiating. Barbara will be laid to rest next to her husband, Floyd at Oak Dale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society or Capital City Hospice in Barbara's honor.
