Betty L. King, 86, passed away on Friday May 16, peacefully in her sleep at Mercy McAuley Center, Urbana. She was born January 10, 1928 in Rockland (Belpre), OH, Washington County. Betty is the daughter of John Benjamin and Anna (Smith) Weaver. Betty graduated from Belpre High School and married Robert King in 1946. Together they had 5 children and shared a wonderful 55-year journey of happiness and adventure. Betty retired after 23 years of service with Grimes Manufacturing/FL Aerospace. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Urbana, and the Sara Innes Rebekah Lodge #1, Order of the White Shrine, Urbana, OH. Betty volunteered her time at Mercy Hospital Urbana, and North Elementary School. She also worked at her sons business, the Indian Dairy Bar, Mechanicsburg, OH. Betty enjoyed a life of camping and traveling with Robert, her husband. She passed her time working on puzzles and was a vivid reader. Her survivors include daughters, Linda Wagner of Webbville, KY, Rosemary Ewing of Pasadena, TX, and Jean Allison of Urbana; sons, John King and Richard (Amy) King of Urbana; 11 grandchildren, Billie, Kelli, Stacie, Debbie, Tami, Carl, James, Niki, Mark, Rachelle and Andrew; numerous great-gandchildren; brothers: William (Bill) Weaver of Belpre, and Ben (Barbara) Weaver of Tampa, FL; sister-in-law, Ruth Nolte of Urbana; and several nieces and nephews, who will miss Aunt Betty. Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Robert (Bob) King; her parents, John and Anna Weaver; brothers, Lloyd Weaver and Ron Weaver; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Reser, Helen Parks and Roberta Jean King; brothers-in-law, Jim, Raymond, William, and Harold (Gene) King; and her companion dog, Reba. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 23 in the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 642 S. Main St., Urbana, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Brian Wonn officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Dale Cemetery, Urbana. Contributions can be made in lieu of flowers to the Cancer Association of Champaign County, P.O. Box 38125, Urbana, OH 43078. Betty will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Sterling House, Mercy Hospice, and McAuley Center, especially nurses Martha, Charlotte, and Kim, and CNA Gene Fields and Kevin.
