Doris Jones

Doris Elaine (Olson) Jones, age 92, of Urbana, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 19, 2023. She was born on August 2, 1930 to Guestaf (Gus) Olander Olson and Myrtle Ethel Clayburn-Olson in Columbus, Nebraska.

Doris, lovingly known as “Dode,” graduated from Gulf Coast Bible College in Houston, TX before traveling the country with an evangelical church choir. Upon their visit to Church of the Nazarene in Urbana, Dode decided this town is where she would settle down. She was a hard worker all her life and eventually retired from Howard Paper Mill of Urbana. Dode always had a love for music. She enjoyed playing the piano and could often be found listening to old records or singing a happy tune.

Dode was the youngest of nine children and is preceded in death by her parents and all siblings: Clarence, Leland, Harold, Margaret, Norma, Glenn, Ralph, and Darwin. She is survived by her beloved niece, Janet Kneifel, and many other nieces and nephews, along with her best friend Nancy Roads.

A casual gathering to celebrate Dode’s life will be held at Walter & Lewis Funeral Home, 642 South Main Street, Urbana, Ohio 43078, on Sunday, April 30, 2023, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
