Ervin "Sonny" Humble

Ervin Lee Sonny Humble, 72, of Cable, died at 7:03 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2014 in Mercy McAuley Center, Urbana. He was born September 10, 1941 in Champaign County, OH, the son of Henry and Anna (Amlin) Humble. Sonny retired from Mercy Memorial Hospital after 25 years, was a member of the Concord United Methodist Church and a member of the Gem City Dog Obedience Club. He enjoyed dog shows, camping and making dog agility equipment. Survivors include his wife, Vicki (Owen) Humble, who he married on July 28, 1990; sons, Greg Humble and wife Karen of Cincinnati and Kevin Humble and wife Patty of West Jefferson; a niece who he helped to raise, Carolyn Church McGranahan of Urbana; 5 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; 2 sisters, Barbara Towler and husband John of Urbana and Betty Stewart of Grump, TN; foster brothers, Robert J. Smith of Urbana and Rick Turnmire and wife Tish of Urbana; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Family will receive friends from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2014 in the Concord United Methodist Church, 2963 N. State Route 560, Urbana, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastors Mimi Ault, Rob Blosser and David Vanhoose officiating. Memorial contributions in Sonnys name may be made to a dog rescue organization of your choice. The family is being served by the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Urbana.
