Helen L. (Evilsizor) Knight

June 25, 1938 — May 2, 2014

Helen L. (Evilsizor) Knight, 75, of Urbana, went home to be with her Lord peacefully in her sleep, on Friday, May 2, 2014 in her residence. She was born on June 25, 1938 in Mt. Sterling, OH, a daughter of William and Nellie (Shadley) Matthews. Helen worked in the Urbana Local School cafeteria for several years. Helen enjoyed managing several businesses along with her husband, Kenny, that included the Champaign Drive In, Brookside Mobile Home Park and The Polo Club. Helen and Kenny enjoyed participating in different festivals and parades with the Reiter Dairy exhibit of Rosie and Rascal. Helen and Kenny loved traveling and meeting new friends. A lady of very strong faith she attended The Renewed Strength Church, loved the Lord, was a Prayer Warrior and was a mentor to single moms. Helen, like a mother to many, was always laughing, telling funny stories, giving and caring, and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She loved gardening and attending any activity that the grandchildren were involved in. Her family was her life, always cherishing the family time and togetherness. Not only was she our mother she was our best friend. She is survived by her children, Dan (Melissa) Evilsizor, Anna (David) Roberts, and Deb (Dan) Harris; grandchildren, Jessica (Jeremy) Wade, Whitney Evilsizor, Bradley (Chelsea) Evilsizor, Matthew Roberts, Carly (Tyler) Davisson, Lindsay (Brian Adkins) Roberts, Maggie, Sam and Jack Harris; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret (Harry) Slygh, Nellie Ramey; brother, John (Wilma) Matthews; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by first husband of 20 years, Marvin E. Evilsizor in 1976; her second husband of 36 years, Kenneth R. Knight in 2013; a granddaughter, Roseanna Evilsizor; sisters Erma Matthews, Deloris Brittingham; brothers, William, Roger, Willis, Francis, Arthur, and James Matthews. The family will receive friends from 5-7 P.M. Tuesday, May 6, 2014 in the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 642 S. Main St., Urbana, where a service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 7, 2014 with Pastor Mark Hackworth officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Springfield.
