JD Powell, age 50, of Urbana, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Tuesday, July 19, 2022. He was born on September 24, 1971, in Urbana, Ohio. JD is preceded in death by his mother, June Powell (Gray). He is survived by his father, Jerry L. Powell (Kay Moffitt); brother, Walter C. (Jeannine) Powell; sisters, Myra L. King and Manessa J. Roland (Mike Ropp); nephews and nieces, Jared Sanford, Zach Sanford, Isaac (Jacqueline) Sanford, Danielle (Logan) Turner, Sean King and Raajih Roland; great nephews, London and Morrow Sanford; and his spouse, Jen Stewart. JD was an avid Ohio State Football and Cincinnati Bengals fan and also enjoyed big-time wrestling. He was a caring man who was passionate about his work and loved his co-workers at PCS- Champaign Career and Life. His big heart and love for people led him to work with the developmentally disabled, children and adults, his entire life. Those who knew JD, also knew how much he adored his rescued cats, Who Dey and Lexi. His family would like to thank Christy and Darlene for always being there for him. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022 starting at 4p.m. at his sister, Manessa’s house, 5011 Game Farm Rd. Urbana. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to an animal shelter of your choice. Arrangements in care of Walter & Lewis Funeral home.
