James "Jim" E. Young

James “Jim” E. Young, 90, of Urbana, passed away at his home with family by his side on Sunday, June 19, 2016.
He was born August 14, 1925 in Urbana, OH, a son of J. William and Hazel M. (Kilbury) Young. Jim was a 3rd Class Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy and served in the Mediterranean. He also worked as a 1st Class Lineman for Dayton Power & Light.
Jim was a terrific bowler and avid gardener. He loved his family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter, Vicki (Leon) Wingfield of Lakeland, FL; a son, Richard (Joanne) Young of Urbana; 6 grandchildren, Susan (Pete) Reuter of Urbana, Todd Wingfield of North Lewisburg, Kim Wingfield of Urbana, Becky (Buddy) Ballard of Urbana, Denton Young of Arizona, Mandi (Curtis) Barclay of Oklahoma and Angela (Bob) Maloney of Florida; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great, great-grandchildren; brother, Marion “Bud” (Beulah) Young of Urbana; and sister-in-law, Lee Young of Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anna Mary (Stapleton) Young; son, Dennis Young; and siblings, Louise Chidester, June Jenkins and John Young.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, June 24, 2016 in the WALTER & STOWE FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, where a service will be held at 12 p.m. Burial will follow in Oak Dale Cemetery.
