James Paul Harrigan

James Paul Harrigan, 83, of Urbana, died on Thursday, December 20, 2012. He was born August 22, 1929 in Champaign County, the son of Joseph N. and Elizabeth (McGuire) Harrigan. Paul attended St. Mary Catholic School and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Urbana. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, was active in AA in Urbana and Springfield for 25 years, and was a well-known tool and die maker, working at American Tool, Urbana Tool, Bulldog/ITE, The Hall Company and retired from Rittal. He later worked at Woodrow and was the former owner of Southside Wash & Dry. Survivors include his wife, Patricia L. (Mutschler) Harrigan, sons, Michael (Sandy) of Phoenix, AZ, Lewis (Trudy) of Springboro, OH, Kevin (Cheryl) of Sharpsburg, GA, Timothy (Denise) of New Carlisle, Brian (Jana) of Bellefontaine, Terry (Robyn) of Brookville, OH, Ron (Jillaine) of Bellefontaine and Chris (Heidi) of North Canton, daughters, Paula Reading of Springfield and Colleen (Timothy) Barger of Bellbrook, 26 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Joice Harrigan of FL, sisters-in-law, Marianne Henke, Ruth Reineke, Florence Mutschler, Marge Niles, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry and Helen Mutschler, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Paul was the last of seven siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Karen Kay Harrigan, siblings, Margaret and husband Hodd Johns, Robert and wife Olita Harrigan, Eileen and husband Bud Long, Leo and wife Betty Harrigan, John and wife Joyce Harrigan and Ron Harrigan, brothers-in-law, William Henke, Harold Reineke, Albert Mutschler, Jr. and Richard Mutschler and wife Jeanne. Family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2012 in the Walter & Smith Funeral Home, 642 S. Main St., Urbana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 231 Washington Ave., Urbana, with Father Greg Konerman celebrant.
