Jerry Wayne Sprinkle

Jerry Sprinkle of Urbana died at 2:30 AM Monday November 1, 2021 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born in Champaign County on December 31, 1950 to Mary (Cupps) Sprinkle and Lewis Ellis Sprinkle.

Jerry attended Lawnview School and in his younger years enjoyed riding his bicycle or walking around town talking to folks, taking in all the activity, and admiring the pretty women from afar. As he got older, he enjoyed sitting on the porch at Hill Street and later High Street with his cat on his lap, enjoying the peace and quiet outside and the coming and goings of the neighborhood. He enjoyed planting a garden with Molly, especially growing tomatoes. He loved going to Strive in Springfield, where going on field trips to flea markets in Dayton was his favorite activity, and he enjoyed going to dances. Jerry had a great sense of humor and was liked by just about everyone that knew him.

He is preceded in death by five brothers, Paul, Johnny, David, Richard and Louis Sprinkle and three sisters, Rosemary Whitman, Phyllis Sprinkle and Betty Windle. Survivors include his special friend Molly, his guardian Katja, his friends, CRSI staff, and roommates, as well as several nephews and nieces.

Funeral Services will be held Friday November 5, 2021 at the WALTER & LEWIS FUNERAL HOME, 642 S. Miami Street, Urbana. The Viewing from 11 AM -12 PM, the Funeral will be held at 12 PM. Burial will be at Oakview Cemetery in Urbana.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions in Jerry’s memory may be made to Paws Animal Shelter in Urbana.
