Kenneth E. Newland, 77, of Urbana, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 21, 2018 in his home. He was born on May 23, 1941, in Greenup, Kentucky, the son of the late Charles and Brooke (Hall) Newland. Ken is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Barbara (Deere) Newland; son, Brian (Noalene) Newland; daughter-in-law, Kathy Biddle; grandchildren, Shane Newland (Chelsey Copas), Sarah Biddle, Vincent (Janet) Pack and Joshua (Chayanis) Biddle; great-grandchild, Owen Newland; sisters, Rose Watkins and Lenora Newland; brother, Jimmy Newland; aunt, Madeline VanHoose; and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Ken is preceded in death by his loving grandmother who raised him, Lula Newland; and son, Ken Biddle. He retired after 40 years of service from Desmond Stephens. Ken and his wife are members of New Hope Church of Urbana where he loved to play the banjo. As long as the instrument had strings, Ken could play anything. He was a great musician but his favorite past time was spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. Graveside service will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 10:00a.m. at Oak Dale Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to WALTER & LEWIS FUNERAL HOME.
