Kenneth "Kenny" Ray Knight

Kenneth Kenny Ray Knight Jr., 82, of Urbana, died on Sunday, August 4, 2013 in Mercy McAuley Center. He was born on May 23, 1931 in Champaign County, Ohio, the son of the late Kenneth Ray and Irva (Hart) Knight. Kenny graduated from Urbana Local High School in 1949 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force shortly after. Kenny worked as a truck driver for Lawsons and retired after 18 years. He went on to drive for Reiter Dairy for another 20 years. He was also a member of Renewed Strength Church in Westville. Kenny loved singing gospel music, and spending time with his family. He did his best to keep busy and never knew a stranger. Kenny also enjoyed watching NASCAR, playing cards, and vacationing. He was also interested in geography and was known by many as a walking GPS. Kenny is survived by his wife of 36 years, Helen (Matthews Evilsizor) Knight and children, Danny (Melissa) Evilsizor, Anna (David) Roberts, and Deb (Dan) Harris, all of Urbana; grandchildren, Jessica (Jeremy) Wade, Whitney Evilsizor, Bradley (Chelsea) Evilsizor, Matthew Roberts, Carly (Tyler) Davisson, Lindsay (Brian Adkins) Roberts, Maggie, Sam and Jack Harris; 8 great-grandchildren and one on the way; brother, Donald (Ruth) Knight, of Urbana; also 2 daughters, Sharon and Melissa, of Springfield; his grandchildren, Messina, Michael, Jessie, Sarah and Nathan, all of Springfield; special cousins, Melvin (Trish) Hart, Susie Nichols and Patty Paul. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Roseanna Evilsizor. Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2013 in the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 642 S. Main St., Urbana, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2013 with Pastor Mark Hackworth and Pastor Joe Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Springfield. Contributions may be made in Kennys memory to The Caring Kitchen, 300 Miami St., Urbana.
