Lucy A. Canaday

Lucy A. Canaday, 93, of Urbana, died Tuesday, November 19, 2013 in Heartland of Urbana. She was born August 25, 1920 in Champaign County, OH, the daughter of John and Viola (Chavers) Mortimer. Lucy was a member of the River of Life Christian Center and retired from Grimes Manufacturing. She loved her family and neighbors, her cats and loved to bowl. Survivors include a son, Asa E. Canaday Jr. and his wife Jody of Urbana; grandchildren, Colby Hatcher and his wife Michelle of Brecksville, OH, Eric Hatcher and his wife Analiza of Yuma, AZ, and Sierra, Isiah, Mya and Alanna Canaday of Urbana; 10 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, B.J. Clancy of Urbana; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Asa E. Canaday Sr., a son, James E. Hatcher, a daughter, Beverly Anita Hatcher, and 4 brothers, William, John, Virgil and Charlie Mortimer. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, 2013 in the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 25, 2013.
