Mary C. Sweeney

Mary C. Sweeney, 90, of Urbana, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2017 in Mercy McAuley Center, Urbana.
She was born on January 23, 1927 in Urbana, OH, a daughter of Lawrence and Helen (Cooney) Welsh. Mary retired from Champaign County Children Services and was past president of PERI. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Urbana.
Survivors include her daughter, Helen Anne Sweeney (David Wyckoff); sisters, Marjorie (Richard) Beach and Jane (John) Stanley; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Sweeney; daughter, Mary Patrice Sweeney; and son, Joseph Sweeney.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 30, 2017 in St. Mary Catholic Church, 231 Washington Ave., Urbana with Father Dan Hunt, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Oak Dale Cemetery, Urbana.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church – Champaign County Catholic Relief Fund or to the Champaign County Library, 1060 Scioto St., Urbana, OH 43078.
