Mary Virginia Baker

Mary Virginia Baker, 82, of Urbana, died at 2:33 P.M. on Thursday, October 17, 2013 in Springfield Regional Medical Center, Springfield. Mary was born April 4, 1931 in Springfield, Oh, the daughter of Roy & Clara (Burrow) Canter. She graduated from Plattsburg High School in 1949, worked at Miller Textiles in Springfield and was a member of Terre Haute United Methodist Church. Mary loved bird watching, flowers and her Cock-a-Poo dog Duffy. Survivors include her husband of 59 years Richard Baker, daughters, Karen Sue Baker and Beverly Kay Parcels; son, Michael (Beverly) Baker; grandchildren Jamie (Jeff) Newcomb; Danielle (Tyler) Buck; four great-grandchildren and sister, Janet Baker. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Donna Wiant, and brother, Bob Canter. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2013 in the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 642 S. Main St., Urbana, where a service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 21, 2013 with Pastor Yinger officiating. Burial will follow in Terre Haute Cemetery.
