Nancy Jane Vanhoose

Nancy J. VanHoose, age 66, a longtime resident of Urbana, departed this world on July 28, 2017. She was born on August 30, 1950 in Londonderry, Ohio, daughter of Orville and Regina (Bowman) Lunsford. She is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Dean, Steve and Doug Lunsford; one sister, Barbara and brother-in-law, Earl Eldridge; and mother-in-law, Barbara VanHoose. She is survived by her loving husband, James M. VanHoose; three children, Christina J. Smith-Lambert (Dewayne), Nelson II (Angel) Smith and Randi (Don) Ratliff; sisters, Janet Page, Sharon (Burl) Bowling and Arvella (Daryl) Ault; 8 grandchildren, Paige Smith, Brittian (Jesi) Holmes, Regina Holmes, Cody and Rochelle Kincaid, Amanda and Alex Ratliff and Nathan Sowers; two great-grandchildren, Ariyah McKellop and Ava Gunsaulies; brothers-in-law, Dennis, Roger, Bruce, Tom and Donnie VanHoose; sister-in-law, Ida Chambers; and father-in-law, Raymond VanHoose. Nancy married James on July 5, 1993. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and caring grandmother. She worked at Grimes-Honeywell for over 26 years. Nancy was an active member of Life Net Christian Fellowship Church. She loved spending time with family, camping, swimming and she loved to sing. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. at WALTER & LEWIS FUNERAL HOME with service on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at 11 a.m. also at the funeral home with Pastor Chris Livingston officiating. Entombment will follow at Oak Dale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Association of Champaign County, PO Box 38125, Urbana, Ohio 43078.
