Naomi Rosetta Kaffenbarger

March 21, 1924 — November 29, 2018

Naomi Rosetta Kaffenbarger of Urbana, OH was ushered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, whom she had faithfully served, on November 29, 2018. She was the daughter of Abraham and Margaret Emma (Wert) Martin born at home on March 21, 1924 in Clark County near Donnelsville.
Mrs. Kaffenbarger graduated from Olive Branch High School in 1941. She was married to Dr. Raymond L. Kaffenbarger on April 25, 1943 shortly before he shipped out for his tour of duty in the South Pacific Theatre of Operations during World War II. Raymond was the was the love of her life and she had a tremendous influence on his ministry at Grace Baptist Church. She served by her husband’s side in many capacities in the church: Sunday School teacher, church pianist and organist, counselor during 37 years of Pastor Kaffenbarger’s ministry in Urbana. Together they made much of Jesus Christ in the community. She was an accomplished musician spending countless hours playing the piano, organ and accordion. Not only was she the church organist but she accompanied the adult choir at Grace Baptist and many of the special singing groups. She spent many years giving private piano lessons. She was a fabulous cook with many of her dishes being described as “culinary delights.” She loved nothing more than preparing a delicious meal for her entire family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Raymond, parents Abraham and Margaret Emma (Wert) Martin, her sister Miriam Salyers, her brothers Paul and Mason Martin and a granddaughter Teri Lynn (Kaffenbarger) Roberts.
Naomi is survived by her son Richard (Marilyn) Kaffenbarger of West Liberty, her daughter Sylvia (Rollan) Williams and his son Dan (Janet) Kaffenbarger, both of Urbana. She is also survived by her grandchildren Paul (Denise) Kaffenbarger of Degraff, Heather (Josh) Rarey and Ryan Williams both of Urbana, Gretchen (Matthew) Weegens of Marcellus, Michigan, Bryan (Anneliese) Kaffenbarger of Arlington, Texas and Daniel (Lauren) Kaffenbarger, of Urbana. She has 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her relatives she has a countless number of extended family members in the congregation of Grace Baptist Church, a body of believers that she faithfully served alongside for over 60 years.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, December 3, 2018 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 910 Childrens’ Home Road, Urbana, OH. A service to celebrate the homegoing of Naomi will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church. Pastor Aaron Samples will officiate the service. In addition special music will be provided by the Ambassador for Christ Quartet, a group Mrs. Kaffenbarger accompanied for over 35 years. Interment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery, Urbana, Ohio. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials may be made in Mrs. Kaffenbarger’s name to Grace Baptist Church, 910 Childrens’ Home Rd., Urbana, OH 43078.
