Riley Woodruff Roush

On Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 11 p.m., Riley Woodruff Roush went to be with Betty, his wife of 68 years. Riley was born December 16, 1919 in Catawba, OH. He talked about his trip to Grandmas house nine days after birth for Christmas dinner by way of a one-horse open sleigh. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ada Woodruff Roush and Clinton Roush; two sisters, Romola Knotts and Martha Jean McGill; brother, Leo Roush; and grandson, Benjamin Delewese. He is survived by son, James Clinton Roush (Loretta) of Indianapolis, IN; daughter, Ruby Jean Stinson (William S. Stinson, Jr.) of Lakeland, FL; son, Thomas Dean Roush (Sue) of St. Paris; daughter, Sue Ann Delewese of Powell; daughter, Kimberly Ellen Steiner (James) of Urbana; brother, Hobart Roush (Barbara) of Urbana; sister-in-law, Beatrice Roush of Urbana; numerous nieces and nephews; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 2 great, great-grandchildren. A Navy veteran of WWII, Riley was retired from the Roush & Sons seed corn business, Robbins & Myers and General Motors Corp. He and his wife Betty developed the White Oaks Subdivision in Russells Point which included 14 houses. Riley was involved every year in the Salem alumni as one of the oldest. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved taking care of his lawn and gardens. The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 in the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, where a service will be held at 2 p.m. with Rev. David Kepple officiating. Burial will follow in Kings Creek Cemetery. The family would also like to thank all of the girls at Hearth and Home for taking good care of their Dad.
