Sue F. Adkins

Sue F. (Overfield) Adkins, age 77, of Urbana, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2016 in Mercy Memorial Hospital. She was born on September 13, 1939 to the late Marion W. and Leola M. (Sharp) Overfield-Crawford in Woodstock. Sue went on to graduate from Urbana High School in 1957. She then married Joseph Adkins on May 25, 1957. Sue absolutely loved her family, especially her grandkids. She also enjoyed watching the Ohio State Buckeyes and her Cincinnati Reds! She was always ready for a game of Canasta or Euchre, and enjoyed playing Bingo. She never knew a stranger, she loved to talk, and will always be remembered for her rather thorough story telling.
Sue is survived by her three children, Victoria (Jerry) Preston, Linda (Michael) Wellbaum and Kenneth (Mindy) Adkins; grandchildren, Jerry Preston Jr., Joseph (Meghan) Preston, Matthew (Brooke) Wellbaum, Sarah (Brandon) Pryor, Andrew Wisma, Kevin (Staci) Wisma, Amanda Davila, Alyssa (Tyler) Crooks, and Abigail (Augie) Martinez; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marilyn Strouse of Chillicothe; one brother, Samuel Overfield of Urbana; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Edie, Jeff and Tina Davis; Elizabeth Wellbaum; and all of her friends at Rotary Manor.
Along with her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph on November 23, 2000, as well as a grandson, Jon Preston in 2003.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 in the WALTER & STOWE FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on January 5, 2017 also in the funeral home, with Tony Griffith officiating.
