Betty Lou (Hoffman) Uhlenbrock

December 29, 1928 — December 12, 2023

Urbana

Betty L. (Hoffman) Uhlenbrock, 94, of Urbana, passed away December 12, 2023 at OSU Wexner Medical Center. Born at home on December 29, 1928 in Linworth, Ohio, Betty was the daughter of Kenneth and Pauline Leppert Hoffman. She spent her formative years in Franklin, Ohio, and it was there she met and married her husband of 52 years, George F. Uhlenbrock, before moving to Urbana, Ohio in 1963.

Betty devoted her life to George and their four children. They remember her for her kind and gentle manner, her love of cooking, her gardening “green thumb” which could bring any plant back to life, the pleasure she derived from doing yard work, her pleasure while watching the birds eat from her feeder, her enjoyment of sewing, her ability to repair just about anything, and her love of the Cincinnati Reds, thanks to George. She enjoyed spending time with her extended family during Hoffman/Uhlenbrock gatherings, celebrating the holidays with her children and grandchildren, and attending her children’s numerous baseball games.

A longtime parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church in Urbana, Betty was a member of the Ladies Altar Society. It was through this membership she developed many lifelong friends.

She is survived by children Steve (Cheryl Snyder Uhlenbrock) Cable, Ohio; Carol Staton, Columbus, Ohio; Jim (Elizabeth Solt Uhlenbrock) Columbus, Ohio; Bill Uhlenbrock, Cleveland, Ohio; eleven grandchildren Josh (Brandie) Uhlenbrock; Paul and Ben Staton; Justin and Matthew Uhlenbrock; Jacob, Nate, Zach, Mareesa, Geneva and Wade Uhlenbrock; two great-grandchildren, Hudson and Hallie Uhlenbrock; sisters-in-law Juanita Hoffman and Sue Patton; numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty was predeceased by her husband, George Uhlenbrock; sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and William Dixon; brothers Paul Hoffman and Robert Hoffman; sister-in-law Elizabeth Jane Uhlenbrock and son-in-law, Ted Staton.

The family will receive visitors at Walter & Lewis Funeral Home 642 South Main St., Urbana, Ohio on Sunday, December 17, 2023 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 10:00 a.m., also at the funeral home.
