Gary Eugene Sizemore, 75, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Gary was born on June 20, 1950, to the late Marshall and Adria (Jerrels) Sizemore. In high school, Gary met the love of his life, Sylvia (Noriega). They married in 1969 and shared 56 beautiful years together. Their children were so proud of the love they had for one another and the life they built together. Gary was a man of his word, a giver, and someone who loved his family deeply and devoted his life to them. He began his adult life serving in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed at 29 Palms, California. He was extremely proud of his service and loved the Marine Corps, celebrating their birthday and reciting the Marine Corps creed. After his military career, Gary worked at Howard Bond/Fox River Paper, where he retired after 38 years of service. He continued working part-time after retirement for CTS, where he enjoyed caring for all of his clients. Gary was also a member of the American Legion, VFW, and The Moose, where he enjoyed socializing with his many friends. Gary enjoyed playing pool, cards, and golfing. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. His happiest moments were when all of his children and grandchildren were together. Gary was a good, honest, and loving man. He will be missed for the deep love he had for his wife and family, his jokes and sense of humor, his love for the Lord, and the unwavering love he always showed his children. Gary and Sylvia were a true example of lasting love through and through, no matter what. Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Sylvia; his children, Chad (Lisa) Sizemore of Urbana, Anna (Howard) Kessler of Urbana, and Abby (Patrick) O’Block of Grove City; and daughter-in-law, Melissa Sizemore of Cable. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jennifer, Greg, Lauren, Abbott, Audrey, Dylan, Alexis, Leah, Wesley, and Morgan; great-grandchildren, Jennson, Jolene, Scarlett, Dean, Cash, and Easton; brother, Tom (Connie) Sizemore; sisters, Wilma McClure and Jannie Samson; brothers-in-law, Thomas Noriega and Jesse Noriega Jr.; sister-in-law, Linda (Doug) Edwards; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Jesse Sr and Laura Noriega; his son, Sean Sizemore; granddaughter, Brooke; grandsons, Connor and Grant; brothers, Marshall and George Sizemore; sisters, Anne and Neva; sisters-in-law, Tina, Mary Ellen, and Virginia; and brother-in-law, Robert. A special thank you to Pam Noriega and Gary’s best friend, Tommy Noriega, for helping with his care during these last few weeks. The family would also like to thank all of their friends and family who have helped them through this extremely difficult time.
