OBITAURY FOR JAMES A. JIM STOKES James A. Jim Stokes, 73, of Urbana died at 5:25 P.M., Saturday, November 16, 2013 in his residence. He was born June 20, 1940 in Urbana, a son of Howard W. and Hazel D. (Bowers) Stokes. Jim, a 1958 Urbana High School graduate, served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. He retired in 1988 from Midland-Ross Grimes Division and in 2000 from KTH. Survivors include his wife of 43 years Barbara (Simpson), whom he married on March 1, 1970; daughters, Melanie Bahan of Urbana, Nicole (Josh) McKenzie of Urbana; son Todd Stokes of Urbana; grandchildren, Zaine, Paige, Karsen, Kamdyn brothers, Jay Stokes of Urbana, Jon Stokes of AL; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, sister, Joeen Cooper; brother Jack Stokes and sisters-in-law, Dixie and Susan. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M Tuesday, November 19, 2013 and 12:30-1:30 P.M., Wednesday, November 20, 2013 in the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Urbana where the service will be at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Jim Lillibridge officiating.
