James Eugene "Gene" Weese

James Eugene Gene Weese, 86, of Urbana, passed away Friday, February 21, 2014 in his residence with his family by his side. He was born September 26, 1927 in Chillicothe, OH, the son of Hoadley and Bessie (Blake) Weese. Gene retired from Mead Paper Mill in Chillicothe and was a member of Urbana Freewill Baptist Church. He was also an avid Cincinnati Reds fan, having attended 1,188 games at Riverfront Stadium. Survivors include his wife, Ruth (LeFever) Weese; son, Danny Weese and wife Vickie of Londonderry, OH; daughters, Tamara Cantrell and husband Chris and Kimberly Nichols (Kevin Parker), all of Urbana; grandchildren, Mark Weese, Chastity (John) Woods, Eric Smith (Tasha Carnes), April Smith, David Southern (Cherie Roberts), Alisha, Ashley, Hunter and Haley Nichols; great-grandchildren, Michaela, Callie, Kendra, Kailee, Abbey, Alexis, Kaitlyn and Makenlie; and sister, Eulah Leadingham of West Carrollton. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lloyd, Logan, Leonard, Loran, Leroy, Albert and one infant boy; sisters, Elma, Kate, Wanda and one infant girl. Family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 in the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, where a service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 with Pastor Kenneth Grant Cordell officiating. Entombment will follow in Oak Dale Cemetery Mausoleum, Urbana. Serving as pallbearers will be: Alisha, Ashley, Haley and Hunter Nichols, David Southern, Eric Smith and April Smith.
