Janet Elizabeth Anderson

 Janet Elizabeth Anderson, age 92, passed away in her home, surrounded by family on February 5, 2026. She was born on January 25, 1934 in Urbana, Ohio, the daughter of Amos and Helen Shambaugh. For many years she was a realtor and broker with A-OK Realty.

She was a 1952 graduate of Urbana High School and married Eugene Anderson in 1954. Janet was quite the hostess and shared a lifetime making memories with family, friends, schools, organizations, community, alumni and numerous social gatherings in the Champaign County area.

Survivors include her son Glenn Martin Anderson and his wife Liela; grandson Thomas (Megan) Anderson; granddaughter Megan (Joe) Risner; grandson Dylan Jacob Anderson; granddaughter Shae (Tim) Branch; grandson Tyler (Brooke) Sachs; great grandchildren Zachery (Cadei) Anderson; Zoe and Ezekiel Risner; Jason and Joc Branch; Logan and Johnathan Sachs; great-great grandchild, Nova Anderson; nephew Richard Pyers; nieces Catherine Shambaugh and her husband James Roth; Elizabeth Speizle and her husband Craig, children Joshua and Jacob; and Susan Burris and her husband Glenn. Janet also wished to acknowledge her remaining UHS classmates from 1952.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Eugene Anderson and his parents, James and Dorothy Anderson; her son James Eugene Anderson; grandson Garrett Anderson; sister and brother-in-law Miriam and George Pyers; nephew Donald Pyers; brother and sister-in-law Richard and Elizabeth Anne Shambaugh; cousins Barbara Weaver and Kay Holcomb.

A celebration of life gathering will be held Saturday, February 21st at the Brownridge Hall, 220 E. Court St, Urbana, Ohio from 12:00 to 4:00pm. She will be cremated and buried in Oakdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the UHS Alumni Scholarship Fund, 500 Washington Ave., Urbana, Ohio 43078 or favorite charity. Walter & Lewis Funeral Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
