Judith E. Stillings, age 80, of Urbana, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. She was born on April 17, 1942, in Mingo, Ohio, the daughter of the late Wilbur Franklin and Ella Mildred (Young) Anderson.
Judy graduated from Graham High School and shortly after graduation, while working in the school office, she caught the attention of her soon to be husband, Roger Stillings. He knew from the first moment he saw her that he had to be introduced to the beautiful red head behind the school desk. After their introduction, the young couple quickly fell in love and married October 12, 1962. They started their family with a son, Dean F. Stillings. followed by their beautiful daughter, Karen S. Stillings. Judy’s number one priority was always caring for her family and doing everything she could to make sure her kids had the best life possible. She was a 4-H advisor for Karen’s club, took many trips with her family and best friend Lou Cox to Meadow Lake, and always enjoyed hosting family dinners with her homemade noodles and pies that she was famous for. When Roger became the Champaign County Sheriff, Judy stood by his side and devoted her time and skills by cooking homemade meals for the inmates in jail and was the matron for Champaign County for 24 years. She finished her last 2 years before retirement working at West Liberty-Salem Schools in the cafeteria. Judy had many hobbies and passions in life including her bowling leagues, gardening, reading and watching the Cincinnati Reds or The Ohio State Buckeyes basketball team play. Judy was a long-time member of the Urbana Free Will Baptist Church where she loved helping with church meals and serving the Lord however she could. Her family came first in all she did and her smile and legacy will forever be cherished in all the hearts she touched.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Roger Stillings; son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Ann Stillings; daughter, Karen Stillings Moore; grandchildren, Chelsey (Casey) Sprinkle, Zachary Stillings (Marie Angel), Landon McKeever, Kampbell Moore and Nathan (Kylee) Beard; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Alexis, Carter and AJ; brother, Willis “Peach” Anderson; sister, Bonnie Shopshire; brother-in-law, Phillip Stillings; sister-in-law, Diane (George) Cady; and several nieces and nephews.
