Lester Wayne Petty

Lester Wayne Petty, age 84, of Urbana, Ohio went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 16, 2026, at Hearth and Home of Urbana, Ohio. He was born on February 1, 1942, in Champaign County, Ohio, and was the son of the late Wayne William and Margaret June (Stayrook) Petty.

Lester served his country in the US Army, retired from International Harvester and enjoyed helping on the family farm.

He is survived by his sisters, Martha Gayer and Linda (Lloyd) Tacket and a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lois “Janie” Jane Petty, whom he married on July 22, 1967. In addition to his wife and parents, Lester was preceded in death by sisters, Kate Randall and Betty Randall; mother and father-in- law, Lloyd and Goldie Ratcliff; sister-in-law, Helen Slone; brothers-in-laws, Ernest Ratcliff, Don Ratcliff, Dick Ratcliff and Bill Ratcliff.

Viewing will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 11:00am – 12:00pm at Walter & Lewis Funeral Home, 642 S. Main Street, Urbana, Ohio with Funeral Services at 12:00pm. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the US Army.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Lester’s memory to Interim Hospice of Dayton, 5211 Waynetowne Ct., Ste C, Huber Heights, OH 45424.
