LuAnn Mattox

LuAnn Mattox, age 65, of Urbana, OH formally of Jamestown, OH passed away at home on October 28, 2025, with her husband and sister by her side. She was born October 2, 1960, in Fayette County, OH, a daughter of Beverly N. (Harrison) and Charles A. “Butch” Horney.

There were many things that she enjoyed doing such as crocheting, sewing, going to car shows with her husband and traveling to Florida once a year. She also enjoyed helping out on the Mattox Family Farm. Every Sunday she would enjoy watching church services online. She had faith and was a follower of Christ. LuAnn had a great love for her fur babies, Mittens and Ranger. Her cat Hunter was at the gates of Heaven greeting her when she arrived.

She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Steve Mattox; children, Jessica (Jason) Bryant, Ben (Sierra) Grooms, Mistan Bailey, Heath (Amanda) Grooms, Tina Gemienhardt and Stephanie (Garret) Nichols; 17 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, two of which were very close to her heart, Kacidee (Alex) Becerra and Kyleigh Bryant and 3 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Jeff Horney, Karen Applegate and Bruce (Jenny) Horney and sister-in-law, Karen Woodruff.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles “Butch” and Beverly Horney, mother and father in-laws, Pauline and Warren Mattox; brothers-in-laws, John Woodruff and Randy Applegate.

She LOVED the color purple, and we are asking everyone who plans to attend her services to please wear purple.

Visitation will be from 11:00AM until 1:00 PM Monday, November 3, 2025, in the Walter & Lewis Funeral Home, 642 S. Main Street, Urbana, OH followed by funeral services at 1:00PM.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in LuAnn’s memory to Cherish Hospice of Springfield, 1929 E. High Street, Springfield, OH 45505.
