Margaret “Margie” Ann Baker, age 79 of Urbana, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at the Springfield Regional Medical Center. She was born August 17, 1945, the daughter of the late Byron and Anne (Cast) Stultz. Margie is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Dan R. Baker, daughter, Teresa (Mike) Laytart of Waldo, OH, grandchildren, Mariah (Drake) Van Hoose of Marion, OH, Jay (Allison) Peterson of Marion, OH, and Daniel Laytart of Waldo, OH, great-granddaughter, Genevieve Van Hoose, sisters, Mary “Caty” Marino of Chicago, IL, Patricia Knox of Mt. Zion, IL, Barbara Carrico of Chandler, AZ; brother, Albert "Bud" Stultz of Dayton, OH, brother-in-law John Hite of Upper Arlington, OH, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Along with her parents, Margie was preceded in death by her brother, Byron Stultz, brothers-in-law, Charles Marino, Stephen Knox, and Greg Carrico and sister-in-law Judy Hite.
She attended part of her high school education in Verdun, France, where her father was stationed as part of his military service. On March 9, 1968, Margie married the love of her life. She and Dan met on a blind date and have been happily married ever since. Throughout her life, Margie embodied the spirit of service. Her volunteering efforts at Habitat for Humanity and the North Mother’s Club showcased not only her commitment to her community but also her unwavering belief in the impact of putting others before oneself. Margie never hesitated to lend a helping hand or offer a listening ear to anyone in need, exemplifying the true meaning of selflessness. Family was the cornerstone of Margie's life. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, taking immense pride and joy in her grandchildren. Margie’s ability to make everyone feel special speaks volumes of her character.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from 11:00-1:00 PM at the Walter and Lewis Funeral Home, Urbana. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM with Pastor Jason Kwast officiating, also at the funeral home. Entombment to follow at Oak Dale Cemetery.
