Rejina Ellen Brunotte

Rejina E. Brunotte, 85, of Urbana died on Thursday, June 6, 2024, surrounded by family at Green Hills Community in West Liberty.

Rejina was born February 16, 1939 in Saint Paris, Ohio, daughter of Durell and Marjorie (Peyton) Pence.  She’s a graduate of the last graduating class of Westville High School in 1957, which is the current site of Renewed Strength Church.  She proudly completed Comptometer training at Springfield School of Business and had the highest speed in her class.  She married Wayne F. Brunotte at First Baptist Church in Saint Paris, Ohio on June 3, 1960.  Wayne was on leave from the Air Force after completing basic and advanced training, they were stationed at Biggs Air Force Base in El Paso, Texas before returning to Urbana for the rest of their lives.

Rejina was a retired homemaker and loved to crochet, cross stitch, and sew.  During earlier years she loved to bowl, do gardening, canning, and camping. She was quite the seamstress and made most of the clothing for her children as they were growing up.  She enjoyed babysitting her grandson over the years, too.

She is dearly missed by her son Lwayne (Brenda) Brunotte, daughter Holly (Phillip) Stewart, as well as her grandson, Kenneth Stewart.  She is also survived by step-grandchildren Mackenzie (Brian) Good, Jonathan Stewart, Heather (Josh) McKenzie, Shelby Barrientos, and several great-grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Wayne, her sisters Patsy (Fred) Evilsizor and Jacqueline (Floyd) Milliron, and brother-in-law Charles (Rebecca) Brunotte.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Walter & Lewis Funeral Home with her funeral beginning at 1:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Mark Hackworth.  Rejina will be laid to rest next to her husband at Oak Dale Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in her honor.   Condolences are forwarded to the family by visiting www.walterfunerals.com
