Richard Dick M. Colbert, 91, of Urbana, died on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 in Brookdale Urbana. He was born on March 26, 1924 in Urbana, OH, the son of Peter S. Colbert and Ruth (Mock) Colbert Bills. Richard was a 1942 graduate of Urbana High School and was a Merchant Marine in WWII. He worked at Borden Milk Company for many years and retired from Johnson Manufacturing. He was a long-time member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was a life member the VFW and the Moose Lodge. While at Sterling House/Brookdale, Richard was fortunate to take part in three special events: a trip to Baltimore to tour the S.S. John W. Brown Merchant Marine Liberty Ship, an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. and a trip to see the Cincinnati Reds play. The family wishes to thank the staff at Sterling House/Brookdale for the care and friendship shown to Richard. Richard never knew a stranger, was very friendly and had a bright smile for everyone. Survivors include his two sisters, Joyce Colbert Roberts and Etoyle Colbert Channell; sister-in-law, Nancy Hoffman; sister-in-law, Dorothy Colbert; sister-in-law, Maxine Barger; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 64 years, Mary M. (Hoffman) Colbert; brothers, Robert H. Colbert, Roger E. Colbert and Jerry L. Colbert; and sister, Betty J. Colbert. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2015 in St. Mary Catholic Church, 231 Washington Avenue, Urbana, with Father Larry Gearhart Celebrant.
