Rodney Dwaine Maxson, 75 years old, died on August 3, 2025, at the nursing home in Versailles, Darke County, Ohio. He was born on August 2, 1950, in Piqua, Ohio, to the late Harry and Betty (Wert) Maxson.
He graduated from Miami East High School near Casstown, Ohio, in 1968. He played football while in high school. Rodney worked primarily as a machinist at several places in his life, including Hartzell Fan in Piqua, Ohio, and Hobart Corporation (PMI) in Troy, Ohio, etc. He enjoyed sports, including baseball and football. He was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Indians, and Cleveland Browns. Like his father Harry, Rodney loved to go fishing.
Rodney was involved in several churches throughout his life, including the Lena Baptist Church. He read his Bible every day.
Rodney is survived by his children, Dwaine (Samantha) Maxson of West Liberty, Ohio; Matt (Lynette) Maxson of Rosewood, Ohio, Sylvia (Aaron) Voymas of Rochester, New York, his sister Bonnie (George) Bayham of St. Paris, Ohio, eight grandchildren, a couple of nephews, a niece, and many cousins.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Frank and Cora (Weissinger) Maxson, maternal grandparents Harry and Jessie (Wooley) Wert, all his aunts and of uncles of which there is many, and many of his cousins.
Visitation will be on Saturday, August 9th, from 3 to 4 p.m. with a celebration of life service at 4 p.m. at Christian Family Fellowship in Tipp City at 1575 W. St. Route 571. Associate Pastor Hayward Chappell will be officiating.
