Sherry Rutledge-Rouff, age 80, of Urbana, passed away May 5, 2026. She was born on November 12, 1945, in Los Angeles, the daughter of the late Jerrol and Jean (Murray) Rutledge.

Sherry is survived by her children, Rick Smith, Shelly Smith and her partner, Scott Hill, and Carlton Corbin Sr.; grandchildren, Jacquelynn Smith, Jordan Smith, Faith Smith, Cruze Smith, Lucretia Fultz, Carlton Corbin Jr., Spencer Buckney, Cheyenne Whatley and her husband, Fred Whatley, Sierra Corbin, and Thomas Hill; great-grandchildren, Luca, Dommonie, Bakari, Ethan, Julian, Jaylah, Olivia, Adrian, Emalynn, and Maxwell; sisters, Susan and Geraldine; and lifelong friends, Betsy, Linda, and Lois.

Sherry received her master’s degree in social work over 30 years ago and dedicated her life to serving others as a social worker, teacher, and lay minister at the Urbana Swedenborgian Church, where she devoted much of her time and faith.

She will be remembered as a loving, kind, and gentle woman with a calm and peaceful spirit. Her presence brought comfort to everyone who knew her, and she had a quiet way of making people feel seen, cared for, and loved.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, at the Urbana Swedenborgian Church, with Rev. Betsy Coffman and Licensed Pastor Robbin Ferriman officiating.

Arrangements are entrusted to Walter & Lewis Funeral Home, Urbana. Online condolences may be expressed through their website.
