Sonja Lee Jackson, born on April 9, 1965, in Springfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025, in Urbana, Ohio. Her final moments were spent comforted by the presence of her beloved family, reflecting the warmth and love she carried throughout her life.
Sonja dedicated 15 years of her life to Rittal Inc., where her dedication and work ethic inspired those around her. A true professional, she balanced her career with a vibrant personal life filled with memorable adventures. She created lasting memories with friends during her younger days at Downtown Nashville. She cherished traveling with her kid, Beth and her grandkids to Florida every year, where she enjoyed drinking slushies in the hot tub.
Above all, Sonja was known for her heart of gold. She was a courageous fighter against cancer, embodying strength and grace as she faced life's challenges. Always putting others before herself, she was the fiercest protector of her family, nurturing and loving them with every fiber of her being. Her proudest accomplishments aside from raising her two daughters, included being a nanny to their siblings, she was showcasing her boundless capacity for love and care. She was the anchor that held them together.
Sonja’s legacy lives on through her beloved mother, Rosie "Gigi" Jackson; her cherished children, Beth Fudge and Magen (Demetrius) Legge; her brothers, George Jackson and Kenny Jackson. She leaves behind the joy of her grandchildren: Ayden Perez, A'Miya Irby, Aveah Fudge, A'Layla Legge, Abriella Fudge, and Jae'Lynn Howard. Additionally, she touched the lives of Erin, Andrea and Zach, offering unwavering love in their time of need. She is also survived by her cherished friend, Kelly Legge, who played a pivotal role in raising their family.
Sonja was preceded in death by her father, George "Tadpole" Jackson.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Walter & Lewis Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. with a celebration of her life beginning at 1:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.
In a final act of love and connection to the life she embraced, Sonja's cremated remains will be scattered in the ocean, a tribute to her free spirit and love for adventure. Her journey may have ended, but the love and memories she fostered will forever echo in the hearts of those she touched. Sonja Lee Jackson will be remembered not just for her battles, but for the love she freely gave, the laughter she shared, and the light she brought into the lives of many.
